Async-first sales as the default motion
Recorded walkthroughs replace live sales calls.
ADR-006 — Async-first sales as the default motion
Context#
The first international engagement closed with no live call.
The client raised the question of whether a call would be workable, then proposed a recorded video instead. A scripted deck plus screen recording was delivered. She accepted, paid, and added a bonus.
The async path was the client's preference, and it outperformed on first use.
There is also an operator constraint: live sales calls are a significant source of anxiety, and every call-gated funnel step is therefore a genuine bottleneck rather than a stylistic preference.
Decision#
The written proposal plus recorded walkthrough is the default offer. A live call is offered as the secondary option.
Public copy leads with the async path:
Send a project brief. Within 48 hours you'll receive a recorded walkthrough covering the proposed architecture, timeline, and fixed price. No call required.
Consequences#
- The funnel no longer routes every lead through the operator's hardest activity
- Proposals become reusable assets; calls leave nothing behind
- Timezone friction eliminated for international clients
- Genuine differentiation — most competitors offer a quote and a Zoom link
- Justifies building the proposal generation system
Risk#
Some buyers will insist on a call. The calendar link remains available and those calls are taken.
